How does AIM1 work?

1. Access AIM1
2. Load the data collected during navigation (training sessions, Ocean Racing, Transat, World Tour)
3. For optical fiber: Describe in detail the origin of the data and its purpose
4. Start the analysis.

This approach takes only a few minutes, the user is guided.

Possibility to deepen the research by analyzing the data from a different perspective and/or exploring other data.

AIM1 offers 3 functionalities: base, bowl, inside.

The base and the bowl are designed for all supports, from the MINI to the Ultimate.

The base : AIM1 identifies all essential data (wind, speed, angle/wind…) and offers within a few minutes the comprehensive statistical navigation data, the boat trace, but also the peaks to analyze: an indispensable and objective basis.

The bowl (and its boxes) is a graphical representation of the actual performance of the boat ,. Each “box” brings together the recorded speeds for a wind force and an angle in relation to a given wind. The “VMG” boxes define the optimal curve: The “Bowl”. The Bowl is a work tool allowing to develop the Polar of the boat and define the parameters (stay tension, foil settings, leeway, etc.) associated with the best results.

The inside concerns boats equipped with sensors to measure deformations thanks to optical fibers. Optical fibers are inserted inside composite parts each structural element of foilers (foils, rigging, appendices, arm, floats…). These sensors allow to measure deformations, dynamic coefficients and profiles inversions. Consequently, thanks to the analysis of these data via the inside, what was invisible to the naked eye unveils…
This information will allow to define safety levels (and therefore performance), to develop the structural aspect of different parts.
They will validate engineers and architects cases of loads on real situations and to obtain an accurate knowledge of the composite life for the further development, for example, of next generations foils…

For these three functions, the moving medians calculations, the detection of min/max allow an unprecedented analysis of these data: AIM1 provides tangible and objective information.
